Oppenheimer, directed by Christopher Nolan, had a fantastic opening at the box office in India. According to a report, the film made over ₹13 crore in India. This surpasses the first-day earnings of Tom Cruise’s movie Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One, which had collected ₹12.5 crore when it was released in theaters.

About the movie

The biopic is about physicist J Robert Oppenheimer, known as the Father of the Atomic Bomb, during World War II. It shows a critical moment in history when he was aware that testing the atomic bomb could be catastrophic for the world, yet he decided to proceed. Oppenheimer played a significant role in inventing nuclear weapons during the war.

The cast includes Cillian Murphy portraying Oppenheimer, Matt Damon as General Leslie Groves, who led the Manhattan Project, and Emily Blunt as Oppenheimer’s wife, Katherine Oppenheimer.

Robert Downey Jr played Lewis Strauss, a senior member of the United States Atomic Energy Commission, in the film. Florence Pugh, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, and Kenneth Branagh also appeared in the movie. The film was released in theaters on July 21.
